From export to report, on one set of figures.

planist links import, chart of accounts, planning, checks, analysis and report into one chain. Every view calculates with the same figures, which is why the report agrees with the reconciliation. Every feature is explained here.

Import

Bring the data in, without retyping it.

Eight import routes, all following the same pattern: check first, then take over. The check report shows what was recognised, what is missing and which amount is affected. Nothing is written before you confirm.

Nothing taken over yet.

Unknown accounts are listed with their amount, nothing drops out without a trace.

  • Exports, as they come

DATEV booking batches (EXTF), the GDPdU package and account sheets as actuals, the chart of accounts from GDPdU or from SKR03 and SKR04. Encoding, decimal comma and leading zeros are built in.

  • Free CSV

Any other source through a column mapping you set during the import. Plus an Excel budget template.

  • Replace, not double

Importing a month again replaces its values. Every run stays in the log and can be rolled back.

  • The right period

Closing entries booked in January land in the prior year through the fiscal month, not by the year of the document date.

  • Only what is needed

From receivables and payables, planist reads account number and type. Names, addresses and IBANs are neither read nor stored.

Chart of accounts

The structure of your report, not of a template.

Every booked account is a row of its own. On top you lay dimensions, cost centres and calculated rows, the way your report is built, and they survive the next import.

Calculated rows

Calculated rows
RowFormula
Gross profitSubtotalA − B
Operating resultResult rowC − D − E
Balance sheet totals equalCross-checkF − G = 0 ± 1

A Revenue · B Cost of materials · C Gross profit · D Personnel · E Other costs · F Assets · G Liabilities

  • Dimensions

Named, hierarchical groups of accounts, several analysis frames side by side. Totals always sum the accounts underneath, never twice.

  • Cost centres

With DATEV cost-centre codes and allocation keys that split an amount across several cost centres by weight.

  • Calculated rows

Subtotals, result rows and cross-checks by formula. A cross-check tests budget and actuals against an expected value with a tolerance.

  • Chart of accounts in versions

A new chart of accounts applies from a fiscal year onward. Old and new accounts are linked, and amounts that cannot be mapped stay visible as a row of their own.

  • Planned accounts

Budget rows that do not have a booked account yet. When it shows up in an import, it is mapped rather than kept twice.

  • Accounting purpose

Commercial and tax views on the same data. You set per year which view applies, and planist reports diverging accounts.

Planning

Plan in versions and scenarios, not in file copies.

A fiscal year is a plan year: one document with several versions, scenarios on top, and a forecast within the same year. Exactly one released version flows into the analysis.

  • Guided entry

On the left the accounts by dimension with progress, on the right one account with twelve monthly fields. Fully keyboard-driven, with undo and an Excel template.

  • Distribute, do not type

Spread an annual value across the months linearly, seasonally or by prior year, also for a whole dimension with a preview per account.

  • Scenarios

Cautious, expected and good on one version, comparable side by side. The primary scenario decides what analysis and dashboard show.

  • Planning drivers

Personnel with FTE, salary and employer share, investments with straight-line depreciation, financing with loans and repayments. They write traceably into the budget and into liquidity.

  • Rolling forecast

Actuals replace the budget up to the cut-off month, after that the base scenario carries forward. Single future values can be overridden. It extrapolates, it does not guess.

Analysis

Budget vs. actuals, and every row leads to the source document.

The variance analysis, account by account. One click on a row opens the account sheet: which bookings stand behind it, which import they came from and what your team has noted about them. No rebuilding it in Excel, no question to the bookkeeper.

  • List

Month, quarter or year to date, cumulative or not, by dimension, cost centre or account. With subtotals, result rows and cross-checks.

  • Direction-aware traffic light

For costs, overspending is critical, for revenue the shortfall is, and a favourable variance never turns red. You set the warning threshold, critical threshold and minimum amount yourself.

  • Time series

Up to 24 columns from budget, actuals and forecast across several years, with variance in absolute terms and per cent, across chart-of-accounts changes with the origin per cell.

  • Pivot table

Freely rotatable across accounts, dimensions and periods, over several years, with a tree view and calculated rows in the table.

  • Account sheet and single bookings

Every booking behind a variance, searchable, filterable and with a monthly trend.

  • Saved views

Name filters, columns, grouping and granularity and use them again.

Reports

The result is a document, not a screen.

The target output is the PDF that lies on the table in the board meeting: on your letterhead, with the comments on the variances. Next to it: balance sheet, liquidity, cash flow and your dashboards.

planist assist

Ask your figures.

planist assist answers questions about budget and actuals, suggests budget values and explains anomalies. The figures come from queries against your data, the model does not calculate on its own. Every figure from the model is marked with a dashed line until a person accepts it.

From the Plus package up. AI answers can be wrong. Always check.

  • Chat

Questions about budget, actuals and variance in plain language.

  • Explain findings

“What does this mean?” on every data quality finding, in plain words.

  • Suggest account types

For unknown charts of accounts, accepted as a step of its own.

  • Suggest budget values

Remaining months and scenarios as a draft, never written directly.

Collaboration

Explanations sit on the figure, not in an email.

Whoever explains a variance writes it where the variance is. Whoever wants to change a structure requests it where it is maintained. And whoever looks for something finds it with a keyboard shortcut.
